A poem:
The world will end
One fine day;
As will its children,
That’s what they say.
The sun will explode,
One fine day;
All will be consumed,
That’s what they say.
The world will end,
One fine day;
This time by cold,
That’s what they say.
The sun will grow cold,
One fine day;
Darkness will descend,
That’s what they say.
Few futures come true,
These futures may.
Yet it is our actions
That will make us pay.
Our atrocities and crimes
If not kept at bay
Will result in death,
That’s what they say.
Our conflicts and greed
If not kept at bay;
Our lust and fury
Will make us pay.
There is still time,
To mend our ways;
Els’t endeth our race,
That’s what I say.
-The Forgers of Fantasy
I actually took inspiration from Robert Frost’s “Fire and Ice” in writing this poem, as is evident from some of the ideas within it.

A great read! It’s always nice when you can write a poem that’s inspired by a favorite poem by another author. I did that once with a poem I’d always loved by Li-Young Lee.
