A poem:
Behold, the Nepenthes rajah,
The enemy of all rats!
The greediest of the greedy,
The fattest of the fat!
One indisputably redolent,
Waits patiently for guests.
Traps all who venture deep,
Savors the delicacies it ingests.
Be it a rat or a large frog,
Our Rajah eagerly eats.
‘Tcomplains not about food,
As devours fresh meat.
All groan inside its belly
As get digested whole;
Nothing’s left of them
In that humongous hole.
But one frog won’t do,
Nor will a dozen flies;
Not a hundred ants,
None will suffice!
It gobbles and gobbles,
Never pausing to rest.
It takes not a break,
As digests and digests.
The King of Pitcher plants,
With none as elephantine.
All watch in awe and wonder
As the Rajah dines!
