Festivities

Hey all! I’m back with my next haibun, titled “Festivities!”

I sailed into 2022 hoping for a fun filled year, one which will witness the end of the ongoing pandemic, and a return to normalcy. The situation in India is not completely worrying, although there has been an explosion in new cases recently; schools had reopened a month back, bringing upon students like me mountainloads of homework and a return to normal education(almost normal), dampening my mood during the holidays, but not enough to keep me from being in a good mood and relishing the fabulous festivities. I am looking forward to them this year as well, especially with Pongal coming up, I just want to enjoy its tremendous celebrations and spend time with my friends.

Mango flowers bloom,
Yielding delicious fruit,
Hearts blooming with joy.

  1. Q, I love the uplifting spirit of your haibun, which reminds me of the spirit of, “Invictus” by Henley. With your light you lead others to the light. I haven’t heard of Pongal. Would you please say more about the Pongal celebration?
