Hey all! I’m back with my next haibun, titled “Festivities!”
I sailed into 2022 hoping for a fun filled year, one which will witness the end of the ongoing pandemic, and a return to normalcy. The situation in India is not completely worrying, although there has been an explosion in new cases recently; schools had reopened a month back, bringing upon students like me mountainloads of homework and a return to normal education(almost normal), dampening my mood during the holidays, but not enough to keep me from being in a good mood and relishing the fabulous festivities. I am looking forward to them this year as well, especially with Pongal coming up, I just want to enjoy its tremendous celebrations and spend time with my friends.
Mango flowers bloom,
Yielding delicious fruit,
Hearts blooming with joy.

P.S: this has been penned for DVerse, where poets were asked to pen haibuns based on the year’s holiday celebrations. You can access the prompt at https://dversepoets.com/2022/01/03/dverse-haibun-monday-celebration/ .

I hope this year will be better with many “hearts blooming with joy.”

I saw you added the dVerse link to your post, but I don’t remember seeing the link to your post in the dVerse linky. Maybe I missed it.

Q, I love the uplifting spirit of your haibun, which reminds me of the spirit of, “Invictus” by Henley. With your light you lead others to the light. I haven’t heard of Pongal. Would you please say more about the Pongal celebration?

Well, Pongal is an Indian festival dedicated to the harvest season and the Lord Ganesha. Our cows and buffaloes are worshiped, there are great celebrations all over the country, and the special dish Pongal gives the festival its name. 🙂

I hope it will return to something better than it was before… I do enjoy working from home a lot and hope it will not be just the same as before… but a little bit of joy would be good
