Dragon of Custard

Hey all! I’m back with my next poem. Enjoy!
Also, for those interested,I thought of this after reading “The Tale of Custard the Dragon” by Ogden Nash,it was part of my school English syllabus. 😉

Amidst scorching summer’s advance,
When the sun’s screeches I heard,
I imagined not mangoes or ice cream,
But a dragon crafted from custard.

Green as a green apple,
From head to toe;
Emerald flames escaped
An overlarge nose.

Wings like an aeroplane,
Legs adorned by claws,
From a colossal cube of custard
Was this masterpiece thawed!

Although ‘tstared menacingly
At hungry observers,
To eat them up however,
‘Twould never endeavor.

Brought delight to children
With its edible green spikes,
A dragon welcome everywhere,
A dragon all liked.

Although,one day,it disappeared,
Bringing gloom everywhere,
Devoid of delicious custard,
All roamed in despair.

Its magic hadn’t melted,
Nor had it flown away,
It had encountered its end
One fine,sunny day.

Killed by the greedy,
Its soul they stole,
The dragon didn’t mind
As they consumed it whole.

Yet they wasted time
On futile laments,
Whose cause their desire,
That refused to relent.

I once knew a dragon,
A magnificent creature,
Whose beauty devoured
By man’s greedy nature.

    1. I actually loved that poem! It was so nice,I actually thought of doing the reverse, writing about a dragon of custard instead of custard the dragon. 😜 I actually felt a bit bad about bringing it to a sad end,but well, that’s me. 😉
