The Moon

Hey all! I’m back with a piece of prose. Enjoy!

He stood before her, eyes shining in triumph. He had, at last, managed to fulfill her extraordinarily ridiculous wish, and was tremendously excited.

“Look Kathy! It is a moon wrapped in brown paper!” he exclaimed.

Kathy just stared at the package in his hand, emitting a dull glow. Taking it, she quickly opened it and stared at the glimmering sphere. But almost immediately, her wonder evanseced as she exclaimed, ” Is this all? I wanted it to be bigger.” And with that, she nonchalantly threw it onto the mud before walking away.

Luke stood there, stunned. Tears welled up in his eyes as he picked up his present. For twenty four nights, he had toiled away without sleeping a wink. And now,all of it had been for nothing. He’d received nothing but a contemptous reply.

The fell moon only reflected him producing a scalpel.

I thought I’d conjure a second attempt at one of the earlier DVerse prosery prompts, which asked writers to pen prose within 144 words, including the line “It is a moon wrapped in brown paper”.
