Hey all!I’m back with my next quadrille. Enjoy!
When devoid of salt,
Does food not lose
Its charm,its wonder,
Its ultimate purpose?
One must eat to survive,
Yet do we not deserve
Some semblance of taste
In the meals we devour?
When the tasteful become tasteless,
Well developed appetites evanesce.
-The Forgers of Fantasy
P.S: I wrote this in memory of some of my earlier friendships(and some which exist even today),in which my friends and I weren’t opening up to each other at all. We’d talk and talk, cheerful on the outside, while awkward and uninterested within..ultimately staying away from each other. The monotonous drone of one such person that I’d listened to today motivated me to write this.
This has been penned for DVerse, where poets were asked to pen quadrilles including any form of the word “salt”. You can access the prompt at https://dversepoets.com/2022/02/21/quadrille-146-lets-get-salty/

ahh true!
school friendships are meant to be only on the surface. deep bonds are rare and take time and effort… I don’t think that they acknowledge the effort partπ

A little salt does bring out the flavor, both in food and relationships.

Such strong insight and real philosophy. Your notes at the end added value to your verse, very nicely done..

Indeed, a litt6salt can make all the difference. π
Really! School friendships are the least awkward and last a lifetime. That is, of course, if one stays in the same school throughout.

β€ In my old school, I got so fed up of my classmates, I actually asked for a separate bench for myself, and the teacher obliged. Now,in my new school, I find it extremely difficult to adjust to the arrogance of some guys and the we-dont-vibe-so-we-cant-be-friends attitude of some others. β€

A nice metaphor indeed, for the way we often don’t share our whole seasoned selves…

a fascinating metaphor … no point in forcing friendship, you know when you meet like-minded people, you just gel!
