A poem:
I watch,every night
The pond of dreams spill
Fantasies so fantastic,
With longing, I’m filled,
Realms blissfully quiet,
Where silence reigns serene-
No noise ever heard-
‘Tseems a delightful dream
Where uninterrupted, from within,
A haemorrhage of poetry unveils,
Visions so wondrously unreal,
With sheer sadness, I’m filled…
For I know, I cannot relish
This illusion the pond displays,
That these dreams shall transform
Into reality,one day.
I watch the pond of dreams
Spill fantasies, every night
So unrealistic yet captivating,
They deprive me of delight.
-The Forgers of Fantasy
I wrote this poem with respect to the situation I find myself in right now, being unable to write a verse of good poetry despite hours of thinking hard. This really has been frustrating me for a month, and I hope that after the board exams end(I’m tenth grade), I’ll go back to writing poetry like I used to a couple months back, regularly.
This has been penned for the last DVerse prompt, where poets were asked to pen poems inspired by any of the given pictures. I have chosen the above picture, the credits of which are given in the caption below. You can access the prompt at http://dversepoets.com/2022/04/12/poetics-the-light-of-vika-muse/
This has also been penned for DVerse OLN. You can access it at https://dversepoets.com/2022/04/14/its-oln-live-tonight/

β€ What if I said that in this poem, "the pond of dreams" represents my mind? π β€

β€ Actually, I was referring to my mind here, as the pond of dreams, so I think we all have one within us! π β€

You certainly wrote this very well, Veera! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself: exam time is intense. The muse will come back when you are feeling more relaxed π
